“ A search for truth and beauty “
David Chastain has always been an artist. He expresses the beauty he sees in the world around him through his drawings and watercolors. Dave moved to the Olympic Peninsula in the early 90’s for work and to be nearer to the forests, fish and water he has always loved. Since retiring from a career as a Paramedic Firefighter, his painting production has increased, and his paintings have won awards in regional exhibits.
David is a self-taught painter who believes all artists are essentially self-taught. They are inspired and taught by many sources; books, teachers, artists and most importantly the world we all live in. The artist, however, must still “Do the work” and no one can do it for them. It is a long journey with no shortcuts. David has trained his mind to notice and his eyes to see those fleeting moments of truth and beauty in our lives. He shares this vision with you in each of his paintings.
Purses, Felted Hats, & Hand Sewn Clothes
My grandmother was a wonderful seamstress, inspiring me at a young age to make my own clothes throughout my high school years.
My career took me away from sewing for many years. After retiring, I began to experiment with different forms of fiber arts, often in a whimsical manner.
I have lived in Port Angeles only a few years, after living in California, New Mexico, Colorado and Mexico.
I have always been drawn to the mountains and the sea….here you have both.
Not Your Grandma's Yarn
Textured Art Yarns & Hand Knitted Items
I moved up to the Olympic Peninsula in 2013, from Livermore California. My husband, Harry, and I longed for cooler weather and a more rural lifestyle. We found exactly what we wanted in the town of Sequim, Washington. I got to know our shepherd neighbors, and I was introduced to wool and fiber spinning. I found a local yarn shop that taught fiber spinning so I signed up and fell in love with spinning!

Jewelry and Beads
Susan Cleaves has always been curious about how things are made and how she might make them herself. She made a sock doll at age 5, made doll clothes and sold them door to door at age 10, did copper enameling and glass mosaics at 15, enjoyed oil painting at 16, and majored in art in college. She started a successful design and manufacturing company that kept her--and more than forty others in her company--busy and creating for 22 years. She retired to follow new interests in lampwork glass bead making, hooked rug making, silversmithing, and wirework which she continues to this day as a resident artist at the beautiful Port Angeles's Landing Artist Studio.
For over fourty-five years I have actively pursued my passion for painting. Family heritage and inspiration has established my love for Northwest maritime images in general and wildlife/sea life that inhabits these shores, mountains and oceans, sharing these creations with you as they inspire my work. An added dimension shaping my work is what I learned through life and creativity coach training. I became aware of core values of adventure, discovery, research, relationship, spirituality and curiosity that is part of my soul work.
Inspiration comes in many different forms. Raised near the Adirondack mountains in upstate New York, Susan Kelly-Killeen has been surrounded by natures beauty. She is currently living off the Strait of Juan de Fuca in Sequim Washington. Her primary work consists of handmade ceramic impressions of leaves. Her pieces allow the beauty of the leaves to be enjoyed every season of the year.

The Best Soap Company
Soaps and Lotions
Bar soap is the result of a chemical reaction between vegetable fats, water and lye. When combined, they transform into soap with no lye remaining. this reactio is called "saponification", which literally means "the making of soap".
As a mature woman in the 1990's, I found myself becoming increasingly concerned with my aging skin but was aghast at what was in commercial skin care products. My husband encouraged me to learn to make my own natural products.
